Carson City, along with communities from across the nation, will be participating in National Night Out from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Mills Park.
This will be the 25th national observation of the event aimed at reducing crime and promoting law enforcement agencies. It's Carson City's sixth time participating.
Lisa Davis, DARE officer with the Carson City Sheriff's Department, said 65 agencies will be on hand. Safeway and Target are providing hot dogs and beverages free of charge.
"(People) are able to experience first hand some of the many services we provide to keep people safe, as well as obtain information about ways to protect themselves against crime," Davis said in a press release.
