Elinor Bugli has promoted several musical forms in Carson City.
First, there is her outstanding violin work with the Carson City Symphony and the Silver Strings. She is also president of the Carson City Symphony Association.
She also manages the business of the Mile High Jazz Band, a 17-piece ensemble that has performed all over Northern Nevada and Northern California.
Her husband, David, conducts both the Carson City Symphony and the Mile High Jazz Band.
She also serves as the chairwoman of the Brewery Arts Center.
Bugli was nominated by Carson City Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Ronni Hannaman.
In addition to the symphony, jazz band, and arts center efforts, Hannaman credited Bugli with being instrumental in organizes the "Strings in the Schools" program that teaches children of all ages how to play string instruments.
"This program is free and run fully by volunteers under Ellie's directorship," Hannaman writes in nominating Bugli for Artist of the Year for the 2008 Community Awards. "Ellie is not one to tout her accomplishments in nourishing the arts in Carson City; therefore I am doing it for her."
