Jack Graham Riggan, 94, passed away June 23, 2008 at his residence in Carson City. Jack was born July 26, 1913 in Mountain View, N.C. to Jack M. and Blanche Riggan.
Jack was raised in Mountain View N.C., one of 14 children, leaving there at the age of 27. He has also lived in Long Island, N.Y and Flushing N.Y. He enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard in 1941. In 1942 he transferred from the Coast Guard to the Merchant Marines. He went to the Merchant Marine Academy obtaining the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. Jack liked to travel; he also enjoyed boating and swimming.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Riggan who passed away in 2005, and his son John Riggan who passed away 2007.
Jack will be dearly missed by his daughter-in-law, Barbara Riggan of Carson City; three grandchildren, John Riggan, Lisa Cross and Dena Odle and eight great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 9 a.m., Friday, at Walton's Chapel in Carson City. Inurnment will follow at Walton's Carson Gardens Cemetery.
