The Commission for Cultural Affairs has set an Aug. 1 deadline for applicants who haven't applied for annual grants in the past to submit a letter of intent.
The commission annually awards about $3 million to fund restoration of historic buildings in Nevada. The money comes from bonds authorized by the Legislature.
Organizations that have previously received funding don't have to submit the letter, only those groups new to the process or those with buildings that haven't received commission funding are required to submit the letter.
The deadline for full applications for restoration projects is October 1.
The commission has awarded grants since 1993, helping more than 80 buildings.
Two of the biggest recipients of support are Virginia City's Fourth Ward School and Piper's Opera House. The Brewery Arts Center in Carson City has also received several grants from the commission.
