The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency will meet Wednesday to discuss reducing State Route 28 to two lanes through Kings Beach.

Instead of being a four-lane highway, the road would then have two lanes with a center turning lane and space for bikes and pedestrians along the sides.

The TRPA Advisory Planning Commission and the Placer County Planning Commission have both endorsed the proposal saying it would have environmental benefits as well as improve safety in the commercial core of Kings Beach.

The public hearing will begin at 10 a.m. at The Chateau in Incline Village.

If approved by TRPA, the project would be presented to the Placer County Board of Supervisors for final action.
