Carson City


March is Blood Donor month


Throughout the entire month of March, United Blood Services of Reno will be turning to all eligible blood donors to request a blood donation during their March is Blood Donor Month promotion. Donors must be at least 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds and meet other donor requirements.


Appointments are available online at www.UnitedBloodServices.org or by calling 887-9111 in Carson City or 324-6454 in Reno. Donors are asked to bring a photo ID and Donor Card every time they donate. All donors receive free cholesterol testing and walk-ins are always welcome at 256 E. Winnie Lane, Carson City or 1125 Terminal Way, Reno.




Free class for home buyers


A free class for home buyers will be presented at 6:30 p.m. March 12 at Stewart Title, 1886 College Parkway (behind Sonic Burger). For information or to sign up, call 885-8446.




Douglas County


Sheriff's Mounted Posse Spring Equine Clinic planned


The Great Basin Equine veterinarians will be at the Douglas County Fairgrounds in conjunction with the Douglas County Sheriff's Mounted Posse Spring Equine Clinic from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. March 15 providing annual spring vaccinations and services such as sheath cleaning and teeth floating at a discounted fee.


These vet clinic services are available by appointment only. Appointments can be made by calling Great Basin Equine at 265-7800.




Genoa seeking volunteer musicians


The Town of Genoa Dinner Committee is seeking volunteer musicians, Irish poets, dancers, story tellers for their annual St. Patrick's Day Dinner, March 17 in the town hall.


The Committee can only offer the best Irish dinner and drink to those volunteering to provide entertainment. For information, call 888-9777.




Douglas County Library and In-N-Out Burger join up to promote reading


The Douglas County Public Library has joined with In-N-Out Burger for the Food for Thought reading program from March 8 to April 19. Children ages 4-12 are eligible to receive a free hamburger or cheeseburger simply by reading books. Both branches of the library are participating in the program.
