Mushers reach halfway point in Iditarod

CRIPPLE, Alaska " Dee Dee Jonrowe was the first musher to arrive in the small mining camp of Cripple, the halfway point of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.

The musher arrived Thursday morning with 14 dogs.

Jonrowe earned the GCI Dorothy Page Halfway Award, which comes with $3,000 in placer gold nuggets.

The 54-year-old Jonrowe has been running the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race since 1980. She holds the fastest time ever recorded by a female musher, and has 13 top 10 finishes.
