A body was found along Clear Creek Road this morning.
Carson City Sheriff's investigators and Search and Rescue crews are at the scene.
A Las Vegas man hiking in the area found the body face down just after 8 a.m. He hiked back out to Fuji Park and called police at 8:41 a.m.
R. Fenners said he's been coming to this particular spot about a mile from Highway 395 since 1998.
He said, this morning as he walked along he noticed legs and thought someone was sleeping. After yelling out to the person, Fenners said, he went closer and tried to jostle the man with his walking stick. It was then that he realized the man was dead. Fenners said he calls the area where he found the body, Shangri-La Falls, because of its beauty.
"I was scared," said Fenners of his solemn walk back to Fuji Park.
The identity of the man is not known at this time, said Undersheriff Steve Albertsen.
Identification was found on the body, but a positive ID will not be available until testing is done because of damage believed to have been caused by animals, Albertsen said.
Foul play is not suspected.
