Former Western Nevada College baseball standout Stephen Saurer has quickly become one of the best pitchers for the nation's No. 1 team.
Saurer made his first start of the season on Saturday for the No. 1 Sun Devils and was simply sensational, allowing one run on three hits over seven innings while striking out 11 and walking none against UMass at ASU. Saurer didnt factor into the decision as the Sun Devils went on to win the game 13-4.
In six games this year, Saurer has posted a 1.00 earned run average, allowing two runs on 10 hits over 18 innings while striking out 23 and walking four. ASU was 11-0 heading into Sunday's game against UMass.
