Rasner has strong outing for Yankees
Darrell Rasner had his best outing of spring training so far for the New York Yankees in a 6-1 win over the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday.
Rasner, a 1999 Carson High graduate, allowed the only run on two hits over 2.1 innings while striking out two and walking one. So far in three outings, Rasner has struggled with his control, walking six in 5.1 innings while giving up six runs on six hits for a 10.13 earned run average. Most of that E.R.A. came on Thursday when he allowed a grand slam home run against Ken Griffey Jr. in an appearance against the Cincinnati Reds.
Carson-Douglas rodeo shines
Elyse Heberger won Saturday's go-round in goat tying to help lead the Carson-Douglas Rodeo Club at this past weekend's state high school rodeo in Pahrump.
Heberger won with a time of 7.9 seconds and also took fourth in goat tying on Sunday and 10th in barrel racing on Saturday. Also for the Carson-Douglas club, Jonathon Glocknitzer too third on Saturday and seventh on Sunday in boys cutting; Byron Kreck was seventh on Saturday and third on Sunday in boys cutting; Karysa Perez was sixth on Sunday and seventh on Saturday in girls cutting; Cody Kiser was second on Sunday in bareback riding; and Cory Hershkowitz was second on Saturday and fourth on Sunday in bareback.
