(Staff Report) - A Sparks woman died Saturday afternoon when the car she was riding in rolled on U.S. 50 in eastern Churchill County. Three others in the vehicle sustained injuries.
According the Nevada Highway Patrol the accident occurred around 3:45 p.m. when Everett Myers, 76, of Sparks, lost control of his 2004 GMC pickup after it encountered hail on the road. Myers lost control of the vehicle, spun counter clockwise and left the south road edge, according to a press release from the NHP. Upon exiting the road, the vehicle rolled.
Myers wife, Katie Myers, 72, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Everett Myers was transported to Banner Churchill Community Hospital in Fallon and treated for non-life threatening injuries and released.
Mary Cardwell, another passenger in the vehicle, sustained major injuries and was transported to Renown Medical Center by Care Flight.
Jerry Cardwell, also in the vehicle, sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Renown Medical Center by private car.
Alcohol was not a factor and all occupants were wearing seat belts. The accident is under investigation.
