Carson Medical Group will continue to carry Saint Mary's HealthFirst, a Saint Mary's Health Network health maintenance organization (HMO) plan, which is used by hundreds of patients in Carson City.
A division of Reno-based Saint Mary's said today it has renewed its contract with Carson Medical Group, preventing the group from dropping the health plan that is used by several major city employers including the Carson City School District and Chromalloy Nevada.
Carson Medical Group had said in January that it would drop the plan if the it couldn't reach a deal by April 30.
"Carson Medical Group has provided services to members of Saint Mary's Health First plans for many years and we are pleased to continue to do so through a new, long term agreement," Michael Lollich, administrator of Carson Medical Group said in a statement. "Carson Medical Group and Saint Mary's are both local services and we share a mutual commitment to the health and well being of our community."
Saint Mary's is part of the nonprofit corporation Catholic Healthcare West and has worked with the medical group for about 15 years.
Carson Medical Group is based in Carson City and also has an office in Minden. It has doctors that provide family, pediatrician, OB/GYN and other services.
