Man cut in argument with three who harassed kids

A Carson City man who confronted three men who were harassing skaters at a park was slashed in the neck and back by one of the men Friday night.

Sheriff's deputies said the assault took place at about 6 p.m. in John B. Mankins Park on Oak Drive in the Silver Oak subdivision in northwest Carson City.

According to police, three teenagers were in the skate park when two white men and a black man entered the park and began to harass them.

The teens fled on foot and were picked up by the victim who knew one of the teens. As they drove in the victim's truck, they passed by the three men and the driver got out and confronted the men.

At least one of the three men ran away, while the victim became engaged in a verbal dispute with another.

When he turned to walk away, one of the men slashed him in the neck and back. Deputy Jeff Pullen said the victim, who is described as being in his 20s, suffered a deep cut to the back of his neck and an 18-inch slash down his back. All three men then fled the area.

The victim's girlfriend drove him to his mother's apartment nearby and the victim collapsed in the parking lot.

Pullen said police are looking for two heavyset white men with shaved heads and a black man with long dreadlocks. All three men were dressed in black clothing, according to witnesses.

Pullen said the incident does not appear to be gang related.
