Pastor Ken Haskins, known as the "Rockin' Rev" for his radio interviews with music stars, will run for mayor of Carson City with what he says is a dedication to the will of the people and controlled spending.

"I think what Carson City needs is a mayor that will listen to the people," said the pastor of the 300-member First Christian Church, "somebody that has its best interests at heart.

"I really don't have an agenda to push, but I think that might be refreshing for a change."

Three men have announced they will run for mayor - Sean Lehmann, Bob Crowell and Jim Shirk. Mayor Marv Teixeira has said he will not seek a fourth term.

Candidates may begin filing for office on Monday.
