Carson Medical Group has expanded its hours and locations to provide enhanced patient care because of the increasing need for primary care and OB-GYN services in the Carson-Douglas area, the group said.


It is also accepting new patients.


This summer, OB-GYN services will be relocating to new medical office building space on the Carson Tahoe Regional Healthcare campus for greater accessibility and convenience.

The Sierra Nevada Association of Realtors has awarded scholarships of $1,000 each to seven area high school seniors. Sixty-seven applications were received this year, and the following seniors were selected: Cameron Knight, Carson High School; Jazmin Castaneda, Dayton High School; Sarah Gularte, Douglas High School; Jacqueline Sunderland, Douglas High School; Brittney Makara, Whittell High School; KassaDee Ketelaar, Yerington High School; Nicole Connelly, Churchill County High.

Crews have finished paving the final two miles of Portofino Drive as well as access roads into the two companies' buildings currently under construction in the 5,000-acre second phase of the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center.


The four-lane road is now five miles in length and will grow as more companies purchase land in the area. Portofino Drive is the second major four-lane road in TRI with the other being the USA Parkway, the main thoroughfare through the massive industrial complex.


The buildings currently under construction are a 500,000 square foot building for The McShane Companies and a 600,000 square foot building for Development Arts.

The groundbreaking ceremony and reception for The Lodge: An Assisted Living Memory Care Community is 11 a.m. Friday.
