David Brode, 74, a Carson City resident, died May 3, 2008.
David Brode was born Dec. 3, 1933 in Long Beach, Calif. to Charles and Ida Brode. His family moved to Las Vegas in 1941. After graduating from Las Vegas High School, at the age of 17 he joined the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. He worked for Pacific Bell in Southern California and Centel, in Las Vegas for 14 years.
David married Margaret Sorensen in 1966. After moving to Carson City in 1975, he worked at the University of Nevada Reno for 22 years, 18 years for the Biology Department and three years with Desert Research Institute and Job Corp. After retiring, he donated his time to the Family History Library at The LDS Stake Center in Carson City. He was a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed family activities. His hobbies were genealogy, bowling and computers.
Son, Kenneth Buckler; his parents and his five brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
David is survived by his wife Margaret; sons James and John (Heather) Buckler; daughters, Justina (Wayne ) Mayberry, Dawn Lake, Leanne (David) Lowe, Theresa (Ronald) Lupo, and niece Rennie Brode; 23 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m., Saturday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley, 1281 N. Roop Street.
Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of the arrangements.
