A telegram was received this forenoon from prison guard Hagerman, in hot pursuit of an escaped convict Emmett Barry for the past eight days. Hagerman caught Barry in the town of Bishop Creek. Barry escaped the prison on the fastest mount at the facility and traded for a fresh horse in Bridgeport, where he gained advantage over Hagerman. No further particulars were available.

City supervisors entertained a motion to dismiss with the services of a night police officer last night. As the city attorney wasn't present to advise with conflicting ordinances on termination of an officer, the motion was disposed of.

The "Right to Work" bill will be on the November ballot following the filing of a legal documents. A preliminary injunction to keep the measure off the ballot was issued in May. If action had not been taken, a permanent injunction keeping the issue off the ballot would have been made by default.

For Jack Davis of Gardnerville, Christmas came early this year. The 12 year old boy and his mother went to Toys R Us for a $2,000 shopping spree sponsored by the Make A Wish Foundation. Jack suffers from leukemia.

Supervisors Tuesday shot down City Manager John Berkich's efforts to pump $178,000 into the Pony Express Pavilion. Supervisors took the city manager to task for not sharing the strategic plan with the city Parks and Recreation Commission or the City Convention and Visitor's Authority.
