Brandi Chastain will again come back to Northern Nevada to provide instruction at two camps in Reno and Carson City as part of the Chastain Soccer Academy.

Chastain and her brother, Chad, will return to the area to lead camps at the South Valley Sports Complex in South Reno and at Edmonds Park. It's the second straight year the Chastains are holding the camps in the area and Chad said the plan is to make the camps an annual event in Northern Nevada.

"The turnout was awesome," said Chad about last year's camps. "We're real excited about coming back."

Both camps will be held June 10-13. The camp in Reno will be held from 9 a.m. to noon each day and the camp at Edmonds will be held from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Boys and girls ages 8-17 regardless of level of ability are eligible to participate in the camps.

Cost for each camp is $225. If players would like to participate in both camps, they can do so at a discounted rate below the $450 it would cost for both camps.

Chad said the goal of the camps is to give players a chance to play at as high of a level as possible "and an opportunity to get out there on the field and enjoy themselves."

The camps are a natural fit for the area since the Chastains have family in Carson City, including their grandparents, Roger and Hazel Chastain.

"It's nice to get back and visit our grandfolks which is part of why we come back," Chad said.

WePlay.com, a youth sports website that provides a community that connects parents, athletes and coaches, is one of the camps' sponsors. There will be a chance to sign up for the website during the camps.

Brandi Chastain is one of the world's most recognizable soccer players, who has won six medals, including four gold with the United States Women's Soccer Team in the World Cup and the Olympics. Chastain will also serve as a commentator for women's soccer for NBC during this summer's Olympics.

In addition, there may be a chance for team and group clinics to be held with Chad and/or Brandi in the evenings during the camps. Anyone interested in the possible team and group clinics or participating in both camps at a discounted rate can call Chad, (408) 375-0489. Registration for the camps can be done at www.chastainsocceracademy.com.
