Cecile Ross (Paulk) Powell, 86, passed away May 10, 2008 at her home in San Antonio, Texas.
Funeral services were 10 a.m., Friday, May 16 at Baca's Funeral Chapel in Deming, N.M. with Pastor Darrell L. Witmer officiating. Concluding services and interment followed at Mt. View Cemetery.
Cecile was born in Casa Grande, Ariz. on June 13, 1921. She was raised in Deming and was a graduate of Western New Mexico University and devoted herself to a career in teaching. Her teaching career was in Arizona and Nevada and she was a former resident of Carson City and Hobbs, N.M.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, James H. Powell on June 11, 2003.
Cecile and James are survived by their four children, C. Diane Carter of Alto, N.M., James H. Powell II, Goldianne C. Ethelbah of San Antonio, Texas, Pamela L. Powell of New Braunfels, Texas, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Baca's Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
