Carson City school board member John McKenna has withdrawn his decision to run for re-election, according to the city elections department.

Secretary of State Ross Miller on Thursday challenged McKenna's right to run for another term on the Carson School District Board of Trustees, saying the trustee is barred by term limits from doing so.

McKenna is in his fourth four-year term. A 1996 law says Nevada politicians can serve up to 12 yearas.
