SAN JOSE, Calif. " Home sales in the notoriously pricey San Francisco Bay area are starting to pick up after a prolonged slump, jumping nearly 29 percent from March to April.
DataQuick Information Systems says in a report released Tuesday that a total of 6,310 homes were sold in April in the nine-county region, which includes San Francisco and its surrounding areas.
That represents a jump of 28.8 percent over March, when 4,898 homes were sold. The increase is the largest for the March-to-April period since DataQuick began keeping statistics in 1988.
