Investigators are asking for the public's help in locating a woman suspected of cashing checks and stealing money from an elderly Carson City woman.

Detective Dena Lacy said Thursday that the victim was playing at a local casino in March when she turned to speak with a friend. When the woman turned back around, her purse was missing.

Within the week, the victim's Discover credit card was used to withdraw $500 from an ATM machine. Since then, several other attempts have been made to use the credit card, all of which have been denied by the card issuer.

Most recently, the victim's checks were used to pay for pizza delivery at a Carson City motel.

When Lacy went to the motel, suspect Pamela Jean Thomas, 44, had checked out.

Thomas is described by sheriff's detectives as having blond, shoulder-length feathered hair and green eyes. She is believed to be either 5-feet-6 or 5-feet-7 inches tall, weighing 130 pounds.

Anyone with information on Thomas' whereabouts is asked to call Lacy at 887-2020 ext. 41405.
