The Carson City Parks and Recreation Commission gave its approval Tuesday night to a joint use agreement with the Boys & Girls Club.
The agreement stipulates a schedule for sharing of the city's planned recreational center and the Boys & Girls Club facilities, which will be on the same site adjacent to each other at Russell Way and Northridge Drive.
Under the plan, the club will get to use the recreational center during the hours it is open, and the city will have use of the rec center and all of the Boys & Girls Club facilities, including its athletic fields, during other hours.
"It's really sharing the facility is what we're talking about," said Hal Hansen, director of the Boys & Girls Club. "It's a win for the community."
The commission also approved the conceptual plan for the recreational center.
Approval on the agreement will next have to come from the planning commission in November and, ultimately, from the Board of Supervisors.
