It is not clear what will happen as the result of an audit of Carson City's redevelopment program because the city employee who did the audit has retired.
Former Auditor Sue Johnson retired after she did the audit in October criticizing redevelopment staff and the Carson City Redevelopment Authority, said City Manager Larry Werner, so she cannot now finish the audit by collecting responses to her criticisms.
The audit could be ready to go back to the city's audit committee at its next meeting Nov. 24, Werner said, but he will have to work with the city district attorney to find out what is the best and legal way to handle the situation.
Werner cannot help finish the audit, because he is implicitly criticized in the report.
The audit will eventually go the city board of supervisors if staff can find a way to have it finished.
