The Carson Mitey Mite Silver youth football team lost a heartbreaker last week to Douglas White, falling 13-6.
Carson kicked to Douglas to begin the game and forced Douglas into a three and out. After holding Douglas again on its second drive, Carson marched won the field behind the running of Andrew Trejo, Dennis Krueger, Daniel Beard and Abel Carter.
Carter scored on a 28-yard run after he was sprung to the outside by the blocking of Tyler Christy, Cody Main and Krueger. Carson's line also played well, led by Gabriel Catalani, Austin Baker, Willard Franklin, Ryan Kattenhorn, Stuart McElhany, Jakob Weaver, Garrett Clampitt and Zach Frewert. Quarterback Trenton Robison directed the attack.
The game was tied 6-6 at halftime. Douglas recovered the opening kickoff of the second half after the ball bounced off one of Carson's players on the receiving team. Douglas rode the momentum into the end zone and was able convert the extra point.
From there on out it was a defensive battle. The Silver defense was able to shut Douglas down the rest of the game behind Khayman Garland, Richard Romero, Joey O'Neil, Noah Doddridge, Joshua Buchan, Donald Hurst, Dylan Mayo, Dylan Wemheur, Robison, Trejo, Beard, Christy, Carter, and Krueger.
Carson Silver travels to Sparks on Saturday for the Mitey Mite Invitational to play Douglas White again to end the season.
