Two western Nevada Republicans easily won re-election to their Assembly seats Tuesday.

With partial results in District 39, which includes all of Douglas County and the North Shore portion of Washoe County, James Settelmeyer had double the number of votes cast for Democrat JoEtta Brown " 16,187 to 8,575. Independent American David Schumann collected 1,071 ballots.

The victory gives Settelmeyer his second term in the Assembly.

He said the challenge for this legislative session will be crafting budget solutions both sides can support.

"You've got to have both sides of the equation there, individuals from both parties with creative ideas," he said.

With a large Democratic majority, he said he is concerned the Republicans may be excluded.

"Whether we're going to be respected and our views heard or we're going to be ignored remains to be seen," he said.

With most of the votes in Lyon, Storey and Carson City tallied, Tom Grady of Yerington led his two opponents with more votes than their combined total.

His tally as of 9:30 p.m. was 11,573 votes to 6,558 for Democrat Steven Dalton and 1,104 for Independent American candidate Dennis Gomez.

The win will give Grady his fourth two-year term in the district representing Lyon, Storey and parts of Churchill and Carson City.

Grady could not be reached for comment.

Final results weren't in for either race as of press time.
