Placards honoring veterans as part of Carson Middle School's annual Stake-Out are on display on the front lawn of the school.
Students interviewed veterans to be featured on each of the placards, which will remain on display through Veterans Day on Tuesday.
Additionally, the school is hosting its 11th annual Flag Retirement Ceremony from 9:30-10:30 a.m. today. Veterans and members of the community are invited to attend. Enter at the west side of the school, 1140 W. King St. A reception will follow the ceremony. For more information, call 283-2825.

Veterans are invited to attend The Carson High School Naval Junior ROTC Unit's annual military inspection at 12:15 p.m. today on the varsity soccer field behind the JROTC Center, 1111 N. Saliman Road.
Parents, family and friends of the cadets are also invited.

Monday
Carson High School is hosting a recognition ceremony for all veterans of the military services as well as blue star and gold star mothers at 10:45 a.m. in Senator Square.
Prior to the ceremony, the high school band will play patriotic selections. The 30-minute ceremony will begin with the presentation of colors by the Naval Junior ROTC color guard and the singing of the national anthem by the high school choir.
At the conclusion, culinary arts students will serve refreshments in the school restaurant.
"We encourage all veterans, blue star and gold star mothers to attend and to wear their distinctive memorabilia, including organizational items from the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Marine Corps League, Navy League and other units," said ROTC Cmdr. Skip Cannady. "We particularly invite those veterans who are former prisoners of war, as well as family members of those veterans who are classified as missing in action, to attend for special recognition."

Students at Eagle Valley Middle School are collecting toiletry and hygiene items for the veterans hospital in Reno.
On Monday, Val Jensen, of the Korean War Veterans Chapter 305, is coming to pick up the boxes of donated items to deliver them to the hospital.

The General William Passmore Carlin Camp 25 of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War will hold a short service at the Civil War statue at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lone Mountain Cemetery, 1044 Beverly Dr. For more information, call 972-7420.
