Brides planning weddings will get a chance to see the latest in fashions, honeymoon spots, cakes, flowers and anything else they can think of to make their day special.
Debbie Darnell, wedding and events planner for the Dayton Valley Golf and Country Club said more than 30 vendors will be on hand from 1-4 p.m. Sunday in the banquet room of the club for the Fall Wedding and Party Expo.
The club holds one expo in the spring and one in the fall, and she said they are popular not only for brides, but for anyone planning a big party.
Last spring's expo was a big help to newlywed Emily Johnson, 22, who had her wedding Oct. 4 at the club.
"I actually picked my photographer from the expo, and I loved her," she said. "I got some ideas from them. I'm really glad I went."
Johnson said she had Darnell help plan her wedding, and having someone else worry about catering, linens and other details saved her a lot of time and stress.
"Debbie was great. She ordered everything that we wanted," Johnson said. "We had an outdoor wedding and it is so much easier to get married at a venue where everything is included. We wouldn't have done it any other way."
Some of her wedding ideas she got from the expo, along with 50 percent discounts on the groom's and groomsmen's tuxedos.
"They have so many vendors there it is unbelievable," she said. "You are getting a million business cards, but it's worth it."
This year, vendor booths will include DJs, photographers, videographers, hotels, travel agents, florists, stationery companies, and just about anything needed for a wedding or party.
There will be a bridal fashion show from A Beautiful Bride and Tuxedo starting at 2 p.m., Darnell said, and raffle prizes that include a $1,700 wedding ceremony-reception package and a three-day two-night get-a-way.
The first 60 brides will get a wedding planner book compliments of JC Penney, and there will be champagne, food and wedding cake tastings and live entertainment.
Brides can bring their fiances, too, Darnell said, even if they aren't enthused, because a football party will be going on inside the bar at the same time.
And brides aren't the only ones who could benefit from the expo, she said.
"It's for anyone planning a wedding, holiday surprise birthday party, 50th anniversary or kids' party," she said. "I had my kid's party here, and one of my girlfriends had her kid's party here. It's a really fun thing."
From the personal, like baby or bridal showers, bachelor's or bachelorette parties to the professional conferences for companies, Darnell said the expo will have something for everyone.
"Dayton Valley continues to provide activities for outside communities in addition to the residents," she said.
