RENO " A Sun Valley man remains barricaded in a standoff with Washoe County sheriff's deputies a day after authorities tried to serve a warrant for his arrest.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Brooke Keast says deputies went to the home of 45-year-old Dale Mattson around 6 a.m. Sunday when he pulled a handgun. Deputies were able to take it from him, but Mattson grabbed a shotgun and fired at officers.

No one was hurt and the officers retreated.

Authorities say Mattson remains in the home and has refused to communicate with officers.

Authorities used a robot to enter the home and retrieve weapons, then fired tear gas into the home, but Mattson has not emerged.
