ECKANKAR Worship Service

Walk for the Invisible Children of Uganda

Students from Carson Valley Christian Center, Capital Christian Center, and Cornerstone Christian Fellowship will walk for the "Invisible Children" of Uganda 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 15. They will begin a 6-mile walk from Fuji Park to Carson Valley Christian Center, 1095 Stephanie Way. A barbecue will be at 5:30 p.m. with worship and prayer following at 7 p.m. Monetary donations will be accepted and can be mailed or delivered to 1095 Stephanie Way, Minden NV 89423. The proceeds benefit the displaced children of the current situation in the Congo. Donations of water or snacks will also be accepted. For information, email Jeremy@cvcwired.com or call 267-0151.

Rick Gunn presents his photos of the world

Carson City Library and the Brewery Arts Center present photojournalist and writer Rick Gunn 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 20 at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, 511 W. King Street. Free tickets for Soul Cycler: The Man Who Rode a Bicycle Around the World, a Multimedia Presentation will be available at the library and the Brewery Arts Center's ticket office. Ticket hours for the BAC are Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m; the library is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m., Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, noon-6 p.m., Friday, and 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday. Dayton 4H Ski and Snowboard Club

Dayton 4H Ski and Snowboard Club will hold informational and enrollment meetings, 6:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 17 and Tuesday, Nov. 18 at Dayton Intermediate School. The program is open to all Dayton youth age nine through high school. Cost is $265 which includes transportation, equipment, lift ticket and instruction or $240 if participant has their own equipment. For information, call 246-0961.

ESL Tutor Training Workshop

The ESL In-Home Program of Northern Nevada has scheduled a free Tutor Training Workshop 12:45-3:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008 at the Pine Middle School, 4800 Neil Road, Reno. This program teaches on a one-to-one basis (one tutor, one student), at no cost,  for adults who cannot attend formal classroom settings but desire to learn English.
