Kay returned home to be with her Lord and Savior Nov. 10, 2008.
She was born Nov. 13, 1917 in Genoa, to Peter and "Mae" Van Sickle.
Kay predominantly spent her early years in Carson City and graduated from Carson High School. She then moved to Los Angeles where she graduated from Woodbury College in 1941. Always an adventurer, Kay later lived in Anchorage, Alaska, before returning to Carson City in the 1950s. In 1958 she married Leon Etchart and had a son (Peter). After Leon's death in 1967, Kay worked for the Carson City School District as a cook until her retirement. Kay attended First Presbyterian Church for most of her life. She was also very involved with many organizations including Beta Sigma Phi, TOPS, Frontier Travel Club, and the Model "A" Ford Club.
She will be remembered by her family and friends for her love, wit and giving spirit.
She is survived by her son, Peter (Vickie) Etchart; grandchildren Cameron and Haley Etchart; brother, Ellis Van Sickle (Lee); sister, Elona Lynch; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Home Away From Home and Circle of Life Hospice for their incredible care, compassion and support.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m., Monday at First Presbyterian Church in Carson City. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 306 West Musser St., Carson City, NV 89703. Arrangements entrusted to Walton's Chapel of the Valley, Carson City.
