Raider Boosters fundraiser slated
The Carson City Raiders Booster Club will hold its annual Christmas Commitment fundraiser from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30 at Q's Barbecue.
Special guest will be former Oakland Raiders backup quarterback Don Milan, who played from 1970-1975.
The annual event raises funds for the club to "adopt" homebound senior citizens at Christmastime and provide them with essentials and gifts for the holiday through an arrangement with the Carson City Senior Center.
There will be a live auction and drawings throughout the game between the Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs. Milan will pose for photos and sign autographs for those in attendance. For more information, call 232-9700 or 720-4333.
Turkey bowling to be held at Bully's
Calling Les Nessman, calling Les Nessman. Unlike WKRP in Cincinnati, Bully's will not be dropping live turkeys from the sky, but rather will host its eighth annual Turkey Bowling tournament on Thanksgiving eve, Wednesday, Nov. 26.
The event will be held at Bully's in Carson City and Bully's No. 3 on Pyramid Highway in Sparks. The event will begin at 8 p.m.
Free signups for the event begin at 8 p.m. at both locations. Prizes include trophies for first, second and third place teams, a free turkey, a case of beer and a bottle of Jose Cuervo tequila. Drink specials will be offered throughout the event and include $1.50 Bud and Bud Light at Bully's No. 3 and $1.50 Coors and Coors Light at Bully's in Carson City.
"Turkey Bowling is an old tradition here at Bully's and one that offers our customers a little downtime before spending all of Thanksgiving day cooking, cleaning and entertaining family and friends," Bully's owner Paul Sonner said. "And on top of that, it's just a great time. You've never seen anything as funny as watching someone hurl a 15-pound frozen turkey down a bowling lane surrounded by hundreds of people cheering and laughing. It's truly a Bully's holiday tradition."
