The annual East Walker Wild Trout and Fly Fishing Trout Tournament is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 12 at Bridgeport, Calif.
That tourney is hosted by the Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce Fisheries Enhancement Committee.
There will be two different tournament divisions for contestants to enter.
1. The East Walker River "Miracle Mile" division, which is limited to a total of 25 anglers.
The entry fee is $125.
Anglers will be required to fish the Miracle Mile section from Bridgeport Dam downstream to the first bridge on the river.
2. The second division is for those who will be using float tubes or boats on Bridgeport Reservoir.
The entry fee is $75.
Anglers will be required to fish using float tubes or boats at designated areas on the reservoir.
Miscellaneous:
Entry forms and waivers must be submitted by no later than 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11.
Entry fee is non-refundable due to bad weather.
Checks, money orders or cash accepted.
Starting time for both divisions is 7 a.m. The cut-off time is 2:30 p.m., sharp!
The awards ceremony will be held at the Memorial Hall on School Street behind the historic Court House.
Awards include quality trophies, fly rod and reel combos, fly fishing gear, float tube, a day at Alpers Ranch, guided local fly fishing trips, all inclusive vacation packages and many quality raffle prizes.
The entry fee includes a "Goody" bag with event cap, fly fishing gear and useful giveaways, plus a delicious steak dinner with all the trimmings. Additional dinners for those not fishing are $25 per person. Happy hour at 4:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 5:15 p.m.
