Mitey Mite Blues tie against Truckee

The Carson Mitey Mite Blue Senator youth football team battled a tough Truckee team to a 6-6 tie on Friday at Governor's Field.

Once again, the defenses controlled the game for both teams. Truckee was able to score first on a long run around the right side to take a 6-0 lead in the first half. Carson put together a long scoring drive in the third quarter behind the running of Reed Lequerica, Brandon Gagnon and Jarod Butler. Gagnon scored from four yards out to tie the game but Carson was not able to convert the extra point.

Carson's offense, led by quarterback Derek Schafer and offensive lineman Nick Tibma, Sam Wilson, Dawson Lamb, Tristan Martel, Justin Lopez, Wesley Strickler and Jordan Warren had to grind it out as Truckee would not give up the big play. Wideouts Landon Truesdale, Chase Campagni and Dawson Breuer helped block for the backs all night.

Defensively Carson was led by Conner Larkin, Nick Andreas, Cody Radtke, Carl Cavner, Brandon Basa, Phillip Lopez, Gavin Bakkedahl, Nick Allen, Jordan Warren, Luke Myers, Skyler Duncan and Daniel Morrison. Gagnon, Butler and Schafer also had good nights on the defensive side of the ball.

Carson will next take on the Reno Cowboys at 6 p.m. this Friday.
