John P. "Jack" Scott, 88, passed away Oct. 3, 2008.
Jack was born in Winnipeg, Canada and became a naturalized United States citizen in 1949. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was also a member of the Canadian and American Armies during World War II.
Jack was a resident of Sparks for four years, Carson City for 25 years and Los Angeles for 31 years. He was a graduate of the University of Southern California, a Certified Public Accountant for more than 50 years and worked for the Navy and Federal Government in Los Angeles.
In his retirement, Jack prepared income taxes for many local residents. He had a talent for counseling his clients on both personal and business matters. He was well respected for his paternal and caring manner.
Jack was a proud Scot who served a Chief of Scottish Clans - Nevada, 1987-1989.
He was a dyed in the wool liberal, a Truman Democrat and loved to wax on about the short-sidedness of republican public policy. His knowledge of historical and contemporary events was unmatched.
Jack is survived by Jessie, his wife of 33 years, eight children; John Scott Jr., Mary Jo Aparicio, Tony Scott, Lisa LaMantia, Mike Burchett, April Burchett, Scott Burchett and Tim Burchett, 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held October 25. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your favorite charity.
