The Carson Mitey Mite Blue Senators youth football team defeated the Reno Cowboys Friday night 21-0 in a cold, snowy game.
Carson's offense moved the ball well despite the weather conditions and scored first on a Conner Larkin four yard run. Nick Andreas added the extra point to make the score. Carson's offensive line consisting of Nick Tibma, Sam Wilson, Dawson Lamb, Tristan Martel, Wesley Strickler and Justin Lopez opened holes for the backs all night.
Landon Truesdale and Dawson Breuer also helped out providing downfield blocking from their wide receiver positions. Carson's running backs including Larkin, Andreas, Jarod Butler, Reed Lequerica and Brandon Gagnon who combined for close to 180 yards rushing on the night.
Quarterback Derek Schafer scored Carson's second touchdown in the second quarter with Gagnon adding the extra point to put the Senators up 14-0 at the half. Lequerica scored for Carson in the third quarter with Andreas adding the extra point to make the final score 21-0.
The Senator defense was outstanding all night holding the Cowboy offense to less than 20 total yards. Standouts included Jordan Warren, Gagnon, Andreas, Larkin, Daniel Morrison, Luke Myers and Butler. Also helping in a big way on defense were Sklyar Duncan, Adam Larkin, Gavin Bakkedahl, Phillip Lopez, Brandon Basa, Carl Cavner and Cody Radtke.
Carson improved to 3-2-1 and will take on the Sparks Wolf Pack at 8 p.m. Friday in Sparks.
