The Tiny Mite Silver Senators played their hearts out Thursday night in Reno against the Cowboys. The offense was on the filed the majority of the game with solid drives. "We needed something different, so I changed the structure of the offense. It was a short practice week and I threw a lot at the boys and they executed well. I'm very proud of them", said Coach Steve Nichols.
Quarterback Jacob Nichols ran the new offense that gave the Senators numerous first downs from up the middle runs by Camdyn Meikrantz, Blake Ewing, Kristian Jachimiak, Blake Menzel and Dillon Skaggs.
Devin Presley had his first outing as center and performed the task well. He had help blocking from the offensive line of Dylan Taylor, Justin Kattenhorn, Alexander Robison, Christopher Jones, Jonathan Bates, and Hayden Wheeler. During the second half, Coach Nichols changed things around and Quarterback Menzel completed 25 yard pass to Skaggs that led to a Menzel rushing TD.
Defensively, A.C. Garcia started his first game as safety and kept the Cowboy offense to only four first downs. Key tackles were made by ends Taylor, Meikrantz, backers Nichols and Ewing, corners Presley and Robison and the line of Skaggs, Kattenhorn, Jachimiak and Menzel. The Silver Senators next game is to be announced, but is expected to be next weekend.
