Emil Georges Rutten

Emil Georges Rutten, a Carson City resident passed away on Sept. 30, 2008 he was 71 years old. Mr. Rutten was born Feb. 15, 1937 in Paris, France. He grew up and attended schools in France. Mr. Rutten received his Chef training in France at Rotisseri De La Reine Pedauque, graduating from his culinary training 1956. Mr. Rutten worked for several restaurants in Paris, Italy and Dublin, and had several articles about his high-class cuisines published in the Dublin Papers. Mr. Rutten began his culinary career as an apprentice chef at the Plush Plaza in Athenee Paris France. In 1962 he came to America and worked as Assistant Chef at one of Chicago's famous restaurants; Fritzel's State at Lake. In 1969 Mr. Rutten became an American citizen. Mr. Rutten continued his culinary career from Incline Village where he worked for Kings Castle Hotel & Casino, then to Palm Springs, Calif., where he worked. He returned Incline Village going to work at Chateaux Restaurant. Later returning to Palm Desert, Calif. where he worked for Copa de Oro. Returning again to South Lake Tahoe where he worked for the Hyatt Lake Tahoe. More recently in 1989 he worked Virginia Hotel Casino in Reno, where he was the Executive Chef. In 1997 he worked for the Lightning W Ranch in Washoe Valley. Mr. Rutten started working at the Casino Fandango in Carson City in 2005, where he continued to work until his passing.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Monday at Autumn Funerals and Cremations, 1575 N. Lompa Lane, Carson City.
