Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons and his wife, Dawn, are getting a divorce but they'll be together on Halloween at the governor's mansion handing out candy to trick-or-treaters.
Hundreds of children usually visit the mansion on that night to get treats and to have their picture taken with the governor.
Gibbons, who spends a good deal of his time living at his home in Reno, said he intends to be at the mansion on Oct. 31 and will be in the traditional Nevada Day parade the following day in Carson City. Dawn Gibbons is living in a guest house on the mansion grounds.
The tradition of the governor standing on the steps of the mansion and handing out goodies to children on Halloween started in 1959 with then-Gov. Grant Sawyer and his wife, Bette.
