A Carson City man who allegedly fled police by climbing down a four-story building was jailed after deputies captured him a short time later hiding in a west side yard with balloons of heroin in his pocket.

Rico Eugene Wiggins, 21, was booked into the Carson City Jail at 9:52 p.m. Monday on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor probation violation, obstructing an investigation and failing to stop on the signal of a peace officer. He is being held without bail.

According to the arrest report, a deputy stopped Wiggins and another man for questioning when Wiggins allegedly ran off.

Officers chased him to the Silver Queen hotel on West Caroline Street where Wiggins disappeared behind a door.

The arrest report states that officers could see Wiggins in the room through the windows.

Officers allegedly knocked repeatedly on the door for 15 minutes without an answer. They then gained entry to the room with a key from management.

Once inside, Wiggins' wife allegedly stood in the hallway with two infants in her arms and prevented officers from entering a back room, the report states.

It was at that time that Wiggins climbed out a back window, then jumped down each story a balcony at a time.

"Rico attempted escape from arrest by jumping from the fourth floor of the Silver Queen Motel, to the third floor, to the second and finally the first," the report states.

Wiggins allegedly then ran into a nearby yard and was arrested a short time later with the use of a taser.

Officers allegedly found 12 blue balloons containing heroin on Wiggins. The total gross weight was 1.5 grams.

Wiggins wife, Tanesha, 22, was also arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor obstructing an investigation.
