Storey County emergency response employees and equipment are now on station at the county's new facility in the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center.
These services moved to TRI because of the number of employees in the industrial complex and its fast growth rate. Previously any emergency required respondents to come all the way from Lockwood about 10 miles away from TRI.
Equipment moving into the new 30,000 square foot facility, named the Storey County McCarran Government Center, included a fire engine, ambulance, emergency services engine, water tender, mobile telephone trailer, a brush fire rig and soon a combination dump truck and snow plow. The emergency services engine is equipped to handle all types of emergencies from toxic spills to using the jaws-of-life to cut people out of vehicles involved in serious accidents.
