Life without parole for UNR professor's killer

RENO " A jury in Reno has recommended life in prison without parole for the man convicted of murdering a university professor last year.

Washoe County District Court Judge Patrick Flanagan set the formal sentencing date for Dec. 10 for Mohamed Kamaludeen, who also went by the name Rickey Barge.

The same jurors that deliberated about four hours before finding him guilty last night took about two hours this afternoon to render their sentencing verdict for the stabbing death of Judy Calder.

They were in agreement with a prosecutor and members of her family who said earlier today that Kamaludeen was a brilliant, calculating, cold-blooded killer who should spend his life in prison with no chance for parole.
