The South defeated the Union Army during the Battle for Virginia City on Monday at the culmination of Virginia City Civil War Days, put on by the Comstock Civil War Re-enactors. The battle was the finale to the event which took place all weekend with train battles, an encampment and a replica of the Hunley, a Civil War Confederate submarine.

The Battle for Virginia City took place immediately following the traditional Labor Day Parade on the Comstock, which included an entry of both cars and motorcycles from the United Auto Workers local 2162 of Reno.

Grand Marshal was Lucy Bouldin, Storey County Library director or 20 years.
