Most Americans were just starting their day when news broke of terrorist attacks in New York, Pennsylvania and at the Pentagon.

From 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Capital Baptist Church, 4555 S. Edmonds Dr., will host "Faith in the Military " Then, Now and Tomorrow," in remembrance of Sept. 11, 2001. The public is welcome.

The program will focus on what has happened to men and women who are serving in the military and their faith.

Master Sgt, Rev. Live M. Tau of the U.S. Army, State of Nevada Mobilization Planner and non-commissioned officer and state chaplain for the State of Nevada, Army National Guard, is the keynote speaker.

A 35-year enlisted man of the U.S. military, Tau recalled Sept. 11.

"It made me sad," Tau said. "I was in disbelief it really happened."

Tau was recalled by the National Guard. He served 12 months on the ground in Iraq, after serving 13 months for forest protection for the Nevada military.

"We (military) do what we do to protect the freedom of our nation," Tau said.

Tau said community churches, synagogues and citizens have given the military tremendous support.

"As a Christian, a man of God, it affects me in so many ways. We must protect our nation and the freedoms we have. These are the things I've been praying about."

Also speaking are Lt. Robert Bledsaw, former U.S. Navy, who will also perform on the bagpipes, and Staff Sergeant W.J. Manley of the United States Marine Corps.

"This is our generation's Pearl Harbor," Bledsaw said. "Life is looked at differently for me. It's hard putting what I will talk about " my faith " into words."

The Capital Baptist Church Choir will sing the Star Spangled Banner and Battle Hymn of the Republic, and Lee Elliott will sing, "God Bless the USA."
