Sarah Palin, the Republican vice presidential nominee, will campaign in Carson City around 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
Palin, John McCain's running mate, will lead a rally and give a speech at the Pony Express Pavilion in Mills Park.
People should RSVP for the event by sending an e-mail to PalinNevada@gmail.com, according to the McCain campaign.
Palin's stop shows what the area means to the McCain-Palin ticket, said Rick Gorka, a representative for the campaign.
"It talks about how important Nevada is," he said. "It's a battleground state where every vote is going to be competed for."
Palin became the first female governor of Alaska in 2006. McCain picked her as his running mate on Aug. 29. She is the first woman to be on a Republican presidential ticket and would be the first female vice president of the United States if elected.
