A red flag warning for this afternoon and early evening for dry lightning has been issued by the National Weather Service for the Eastern Sierra and Sierra Front, as well as Northeastern Sierra and far Northwest Nevada.
An upper level trough will swing through Northern California and Western Nevada this afternoon causing isolated to scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms east of the Sierra Crest.
Most of the thunderstorms will remain dry with little or no rainfall expected, which may cause numerous new fire starts around the area.
