Necomers in town, Youth from ROCK Music Ministry at First Baptist Church of Carson City will host a flapjack fundraiser from 8-10 a.m. Saturday at Applebee's, 300 S. Carson St. Proceeds will benefit the church's young adult group drama and music ministry.
"It's theater and music combined," said Linda Tarulli, director of the group.
Tarulli said the mission of the group is to present the gospel in an inspiring way for young adults to respond to Jesus Christ and make Him a part of their lives.
"The group is open to youth age 16 and older, those who are in high school and college."
During a performance, the group reads a passage from the Bible, giving a dramatic presentation, then will go into a song relative to the passage. They rehearse at 3:30 p.m. Sunday afternoons at the church, 1750 Mountain St.
Tarulli said Applebee's staff will be cooking Saturday morning, with the young adults serving, busing and greeting customers. Cost is $5 per person and includes pancakes, scrambled eggs and a beverage.
"We have five teens in the group," she said. "They just love this. And you don't have to be a member of the church to join. It's open to anyone in that age group."
