A Carson City man who claimed that sex with a 15-year-old girl was consensual was sentenced to 12 to 60 months in prison by Judge Bill Maddox on Tuesday.

Casey Clifton, 31, pleaded guilty to statutory sexual seduction.

According to the police report, in April 2007 the girl told Douglas County authorities that Clifton was a friend of her father and had picked her up to babysit his children in January. When she got to Clifton's home, Clifton remained there drinking whiskey sours and eventually enticed her to do so.

The girl said that once she was intoxicated, Clifton forced himself on her.

Clifton denied the girl's account, and told police the contact between he and the girl was consensual.

Romero was convicted of conspiracy to violate the uniform controlled substance act. He was arrested June 15 on suspicion of felony being under the influence of heroin, and four counts of misdemeanor possession of heroin paraphernalia. Romero was delivering the drugs to another man who was the target of a drug investigation by authorities.

"Drugs are a problem for me and I realize that every time I use, I end up in here," Romero said.

Maddox said he doubled the suggested sentence telling Romero that it would provide twice the incentive to get clean.
