Birthdays are special in our family, and I had one the past few days. Everybody in the family gets together and celebrates and gifts the special person.
This year, however, I'm in a quandary. I am old enough for Social Security but not old enough for Medicare. At least I get a senior discount at lots of places.
As special as birthdays are, there is one day that is even more special to me. That was the day of my re-birth. It was more than 45 years ago, but I'll never forget it. My life was changed.
I hope that you have a memory like that " a day that you were re-born.
In the most well-known verse of the New Testament, Jesus said to a would-be seeker, "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)
We all love and cherish those words, but just before that, He told the same man, "No one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again. No one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit." (John 3:3, 5)
We have all been born physically. We seriously need to consider this new birth " the birth of the Spirit. Now, that's a reason to celebrate.
