A former Fallon Youth Baseball league umpire pleaded guilty on Tuesday in district court on reduced drug charges related to methamphetamine sales.

John Jefferson King II, 47, could face from one to six years in prison and fines up to $20,000 when he is sentenced next month. He is eligible for probation.

King was accused of selling methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a park three times in 2008.

Public Defender Paul Drakulich asked that King be released on his own recognizance until sentencing. According to Drakulich, King was in a coma for a few days in December and needs to see a neurologist. He added King's mother is elderly and needs someone to aid her.

Judge Leon Aberasturi denied the request and said the $45,000 bail was appropriate.

King had served as umpire in chief for several years for the local Babe Ruth program.
